I've always worked hard in school, and it has become a place for me to excel and grow academically. However, that's insignificant compared to the things that actually matter in my life: the ways in which I get involved with my friends, hobbies, and communities. Whereas school studies are simply a test of competence, my independent studies are a test of passion. I love to study things like music composition, linguistics, and worldbuilding in my free time, and some academic fields at school just fascinate me: chemistry, astronomy, and geology high among them. Going forward to college, I hope to acquire a number of things, not limited to just a career-worthy education, but also including a network of friends and colleagues, an unparalleled passion for my field, and a direct interface to the communities in which I operate. Right now, where youth group serves that role in my church and my friends serve that role in my everyday life, the Education Foundation serves that role for all of Erie. Through becoming a member, I have seen the workings of my school and community: the otherwise unseen people who faciliate the great things happening at Erie High School and the community beyond. They're great people, really.
